The
Association of Haitian Educators of Dade has been in existence since
1989. It was founded because of the
need for an organization capable of championing the educational rights of the
Haitian community. Today, seventeen
years later, the mission remains the same.
It is true that the Haitian community has marked significant educational,
economic, political and social milestones; however, there are still a great
number of challenges ahead.
For
this reason, the members of this Association are committed to safeguarding
the education rights earned by this community.
It is this relentless pursuit of systematic improvements
in the quality of education delivered to the students of this community that
continues to energize us.
The
Association of Haitian Educators of Dade will continue to champion the
educational rights of all learners in the Haitian community by:
-
Voicing
the specific educational issues concerning the Haitian community
-
Strengthening
its ties with the various community groups and organizations that seek to
improve the overall well-being of this community
-
Echoing
the voice of parents in this community who do not yet know their rights.
Finally
the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade must continue to be viewed as a
core group of viable role models for the children of this community; a group of
role models who can reinforce the fact that the cultural and linguistic heritage
of Haitian people will always be a source of strength to them as they face the
many challenges that await them.
Mission
The
mission of the Association of Haitian Educators of Dade (AHED) is to
promote professional growth and development of its members by facilitating
programs that encourage and support teaching performance to strengthen the
education profession.
